The TAPING RECORDER March 2007 News from & about Sight into Sound http://www.sightintosound.org FASHION SHOW & LUNCHEON A NEAR SELLOUT As we prepare this edition of the RECORDER, we are pleased to report that our luncheon and fashion show at Neiman Marcus on Wednesday, April 25, is nearly sold out. This year's event honors Barbara and Ulyesse LaGrange. Our thanks to Philamena Baird for her outstanding leadership in chairing this second annual fundraiser. The fashions of designer Piazza Sempione will be featured. There will also be a silent auction and raffle, so once again this will be an incredible event! VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION RECEPTION SET FOR APRIL 29 Mark your calendars and plan to attend the Annual Volunteer Recognition Reception on Sunday, April 29, 2007, from 2-4 p.m. at Taping World Headquarters (3935 Essex Lane). This is a great opportunity to rub elbows with some of the world's finest folks, Taping volunteers! We don't get to say "Thank You" nearly enough for the great work you do, so please plan to attend. In order to judge how many shrimp to buy, Carol would appreciate it if you would advise her that you plan to attend. All volunteers are invited and each may bring a guest as well. ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR WORKING WITH THE RODEO The 75th edition of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is now in the record books and we want to thank our description team that covered the rodeo parade as well as six rodeo performances. Our describers for the rodeo work in pairs so one can keep talking when something breathtaking is happening, which happens a lot, particularly during the bull riding. Thanks to veteran describers Fay Peters, Ted Pfister, and Bill White for their good work and help provided to new describers Brian Batenchuk, Valerie Lozada, John Jacob, and K.C. Jobe. We are very proud of our history with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, and we offer our congratulations to them on another spectacular job this year! TAPING GOLF TOURNAMENT SET FOR NOVEMBER 2, 2007 Planning is well underway for the Taping Golf Tournament to be held Friday, November 2, 2007, at the Longwood Golf Club. As we understand it, the morning will be for golf, followed by a luncheon and silent auction with lots of fun stuff. Please let us know if you or your spouse is a golfer as we want to invite you to bring a foursome and play a round on behalf of Taping.
